Find the right starting point.
A calculus problem can get stuck at an algebra step. A graph can be confusing because the function underneath it is unfamiliar. Math tutoring gives you time to identify that gap and practice the connection, with the same tutor each session.
Algebra tutoring
Equations, inequalities, functions, factoring, and the algebra used in later courses. Work on rearranging expressions and explaining why each step is valid.
Precalculus support
Functions and their graphs, exponentials, logarithms, and trigonometry. Connect equations to graphs before moving into limits and derivatives.
Calculus tutoring
Limits and derivatives, integration, series, and multivariable calculus. Match the work to your syllabus and the part you want to understand.
Homework, exam preparation, or a foundation to revisit.
For homework help, bring your attempt as well as the question. For exam preparation, bring your topic list and a few problems you could not solve independently. If an earlier skill is the issue, start there before adding harder material.
Sessions focus on understanding the method and applying it yourself. Email your course title or syllabus if you are unsure whether it falls within the math subjects offered.
What to bring to your first online session.
- Your course name and current topic.
- One or two questions and any work you have already tried.
- Your instructor’s notation or method requirements, if there are any.
You can begin with a single session or arrange ongoing support. Browse the study guides for a worked example before you meet.
Studying physics too?
If translating a physical situation into an equation is the challenge, physics tutoring covers both algebra-based and calculus-based courses.
