Connect the calculation to the idea.
A derivative describes a local rate of change. An integral can describe accumulation. Understanding those ideas helps you decide which calculation fits a question, instead of searching for a formula that looks familiar.
Samir works with your course material and notation. Course numbering varies by school; use your syllabus to identify the topics you want to work on.
Calculus I
Limits, continuity, derivatives, the chain rule, related rates, optimization, and the connection between derivatives and integrals.
Calculus II
Integration techniques, applications of integrals, improper integrals, sequences, and series. Practice identifying a suitable method before doing the algebra.
Calculus III
Vectors, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, and multiple integrals. Connect the notation to the geometry of the problem.
Know a rule but get stuck applying it?
Start with a problem you have attempted. The difficult step might be recognizing a composite function, choosing an integration technique, or handling the algebra after the calculus is done.
For a concrete starting point, read the chain rule with worked examples. It explains how to identify the inside and outside functions and includes practice questions with answers.
Preparing for a calculus exam.
Bring the exam topics, a practice sheet, and your attempted solutions. Work on explaining why a method applies, then try a similar problem without looking at the example. This makes it easier to distinguish a concept gap from an algebra error.
If earlier material needs attention, algebra tutoring and precalculus support can be part of the work. If your course applies calculus to motion or forces, see calculus-based physics tutoring.
Work through it with Samir.
Bring your calculus course material and the question where you got stuck. Samir is a former professor with 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience and 30 years in software and hardware engineering. Meet your tutor.
Hourly tutoring is $75/hour, up to 10 hours per week. For ongoing support, monthly mentorship is $1,000/month with 5 hours per week included. New students can try one free hourly session or arrange a two-hour monthly trial by email. One introductory offer per student; an hourly trial counts toward the monthly trial.
Book hourly tutoring on Calendly. Email Samir to arrange monthly mentorship or check whether your course is a fit. Paid sessions are paid by Zelle afterward.
